Justin Shaw

Managing Director
Passionate about education, Justin has worked in the sector for 25 years. He came to Communications Management from the University of Hertfordshire’s Communications Department and initially set up an education practice before taking over the company and developing its vision as the leading consultancy for education and skills clients.

He has worked across all areas of education and skills – including schools, business education, professional education, and higher education – and has worked on many cross-education campaigns. He initially started his career in journalism and was awarded Reporter of The Year for his investigate features.

Pam Calvert

Director and Chief Operating Officer
As founder of Communications Management in 1987, Pam was the company’s Managing Director for over 25 years. In that time she grew the company into a highly successful specialist consultancy, winning numerous industry awards along the way. She has provided award-winning strategic reputation counsel to both public and private sector clients in the UK and internationally.

Anji McGrandles

Director of Creative Campaigns
With over 20 years’ experience in consumer, lifestyle and entertainment PR including European and global campaigns for high profile clients, Anji injects creativity and inspiration into campaigns. Innovative and full of ideas, Anji is focusing on developing impactful and integrated campaigns for clients in the education sector.

Using her specialist experience in targeting 16 – 24 year olds she has used her understanding to help clients on campaigns ranging from student recruitment to identifying young leaders.  She also has a strong focus on client growth.

Hannah Gardiner

Director of Client Strategy
Working at the highest levels of government and across the public and private sectors for the last 20 years, Hannah brings her well-honed expertise in strategic thinking to help clients map a clear path to success.

Hannah’s ability to consider the bigger picture and challenge accepted wisdom enables her to gently encourage organisations to rethink their positioning and messaging; assess who they need to influence and plan a path to achieve maximum impact.

Helen Merrills

Head of Higher Education
Leading our PR operation for higher education clients, Helen draws on her prior experience as a Senior Communications Officer in City University London where she spent five years working across the University and within the prestigious Cass Business School.

She leads and manages retained PR programmes and campaigns (including managing international campaigns with our partner agencies) and she provides strategic counsel across a range of communications disciplines.

Ben Gibbs

Head of Schools
Having re-trained to teach after a career in PR and marketing, Ben has subsequently managed communications for the Islington Arts & Media School (one of the New Labour government’s controversial first ‘Fresh Start’ schools), developed relationships with the first academy sponsors as part of the DfES’s business development unit, developed PR and marketing strategy for independent schools, and provided strategic communications advice for a range of schools and organisations in the UK schools sector, including CfBT, RSA Education, the Institute of Education, Whole Education and Engage Education.

 

Judith Hunt

Principal Consultant
A highly experienced communications consultant, Judith has over 25 years’ experience working across business education and leadership management with clients including Henley Business School, London Institute of Banking and Finance and global education alliance, CEMS.  She also has extensive experience working across the skills and employment sector, engaging with HR professionals as entry points to large employers and with business leaders, as well as managing campaigns on workplace issues.

Charlotte Hogg

Consultant
Charlotte is an accomplished communications specialist who is comfortable working in all aspects of PR, from media relations to social media and crisis communications. Charlotte is a real asset to the team, bringing previous in-house experience at London South Bank University and Study UK and an in-depth knowledge of the education sector.

Sam Glanz

Assistant Consultant and Analyst
Sam thrives in a busy, newsroom environment, and bringing his background in journalism into PR Consultancy he finds opportunities for headlines where others might see haze. For both clients and journalists, working with Sam is highly rewarding, not only because he knows the right questions to ask to unlock an angle or approach, but also because of his highly personable and encouraging attitude.

 

Lynn Clarke

Finance and Operations Manager
Lynn leads a team that ensures our clients enjoy a smooth and efficient service from us when it comes to completing contracts, providing supporting administrative services and budget and invoicing management. Her team also provides essential administrative support for our consultants together with IT and equipment management and HR administration.

Clare Attrill

Finance and Office Administrator
Clare works alongside both our Finance Manager and Corporate and Client Services Executive. She an essential part of the Operations team who is always ready to help, with invoice queries, expenses claims or client analysis; and she is also our resident handy woman.

 

Becca Harrison

Corporate and Client Services Executive
Becca is an integral part of the Operations team at Communications Management and offers a wide range of support to our Consultants.  Becca plays a key part in bringing together presentations, coverage analysis and reports for our clients. She also takes the lead in organising all corporate and client events and is always on hand to ensure all runs smoothly.
