Pam Calvert, Managing Director Pam set up Communications Management in 1987 after a career in journalism, in-house and consultancy public relations. She has advised board level executives and senior managers in organisations as diverse as retailing, health, education, fmcg, property development, housing, local government and business services. Pam has won awards for the development and growth of the company and her entrepreneurship and was voted PR Professional of the Year by representatives from the industry in 2005. She is passionate about ensuring that Communications Management excels in every aspect of it operations, from delivering outstanding counsel to clients to being a best place to work. Pam is non-executive director of Platform, a social enterprise which supports the training and development of new jewellery designers.

Justin Shaw, Education Practice Director Justin has 20 years education sector communications and PR experience. He has worked with more than 130 education clients (including more than half of the UK’s universities). Justin previously managed the Media Office at the University of Hertfordshire and was an education correspondent. He has led campaigns for BT, the RSC, Imperial War Museum and the University of Cambridge.

Richard Edwards, Business & Enterprise Director Richard has extensive experience in the enterprise and innovation arena. Client experience includes the East of England Development Agency, Business Link, Vodafone and Coutts Bank. Before joining Communications Management Richard spent eight years as a business journalist, four of which were as editor of Growing Business magazine. Richard holds the professional postgraduate diploma in marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing.

Sandra Phillips, Health Practice Director Sandra’s career in communications spans 25 years, half in the NHS, half in the commercial sector. She has worked with numerous NHS organisations at local, regional and national level to improve the delivery and resourcing of communications. Sandra was formerly Director of Communications for the National Patient Safety Agency and is a former vice-chair of the Association of Healthcare Communicators.

Trevor Merriden, Workplace Practice Director Trevor was a journalist for 15 years before joining Communications Management and was formerly Editor-in-Chief of Human Resources magazine. Trevor’s journalistic career spans editorship of Business Europe, an Economist Intelligence Unit publication, features editor of Management Today and section editor for the then Mirror Group of newspapers. He has written three business books.

Paul Barnes, Regeneration, Property & Planning Paul has over 18 years’ experience in stakeholder relations, community engagement and public affairs. He is the former managing director of Weber Shandwick’s Public Affairs Division, the UK’s leading public affairs consultancy. He has advised at chairman and chief executive level, organisations such as English Partnerships, The Crown Estate, The Boots Group, The National Trust and Sainsbury’s. He now leads on the delivery of public affairs campaigns for Communications Management. |
